Celebrating Nurses Month 2024: Nurses at the Heart of Healthcare Awards Winner Announcement
Each May, during Nurses Month, we reach out to healthcare professionals with a meaningful request: highlight an outstanding nurse you think deserves recognition. As nurse educator and author Sharon Hudacek once said, “Bound by paperwork, short on hands, sleep, and energy… nurses are rarely short on caring.” This sentiment perfectly captures the spirit of nurses who continually face the challenges of this rewarding yet often taxing profession. Despite enduring physical, mental, and emotional strain daily, nurses consistently provide the most compassionate care.
At TigerConnect, we believe this immense dedication to the profession and patients deserves to be celebrated. The Nurses at the Heart of Healthcare Awards is our way of showcasing some of the most inspiring and truly admirable efforts in healthcare.
Now in its third year, this awards initiative has brought in a remarkable number of nominations, each highlighting the outstanding nurses in their lives. This year’s grand prize winner will receive a pair of Apple AirPods Max, and our honorable mentions will receive a prize package, including a FIGS Scrubs gift card, an On-Cloud Shoes gift card, and a Stanley Tumbler.
We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who submitted nominations.
2024’s Nurses at the Heart of Healthcare
We are proud to congratulate Shannon Stoffel, RN, ONC, CRNI, this year’s grand prize winner! Shannon is a field nurse at Fairview Home Infusion and was nominated for her extraordinary efforts in organizing and leading weekly infusions for several children affected by a rare genetic disease. In addition to providing medical attention, she managed the family’s schedule, coordinating with physicians and the children’s school to minimize the impact on their education and social development.
We’re also extremely proud to recognize this year’s honorable mentions who have demonstrated incredible commitment to their roles and delivering true care to their patients:
Jaime Fisher, RN:
An emergency room nurse at Keokuk County Health Center
Jessica Vaughan, RN:
A patient care manager at Team Health
Victoria Barner, RN:
An emergency room nurse at University of New Mexico Health
Sunshine Shahinian, RN, BSN, PHN, CDE:
A diabetes educator at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center
TigerConnect extends a warm and wholehearted congratulations to all the recipients of the Nurses at the Heart of Healthcare Awards. Our hope is that these awards emphasize the importance of supporting and celebrating nurses’ steadfast diligence in their roles. Recognizing the prevalent issue of nurse burnout, TigerConnect is committed to providing healthcare systems with tools aimed at alleviating burnout and promoting holistic nurse care.
