TigerConnect and Becker’s Healthcare Reveal 2023 State of Clinical Communications and Workflows Survey Results

Clinical workflow efficiency tops the list of communication challenges faced by clinicians

SANTA MONICA, Calif., June 22, 2023 — TigerConnect, healthcare’s most trusted clinical collaboration platform, in partnership with Becker’s Healthcare, today announced the results of its 2023 State of Clinical Communications and Workflows Survey results. Through the survey, TigerConnect gathered insight into a wide range of communication challenges clinicians face today, highlighting the need for real-time clinical communication and collaboration tools that streamline clinical workflows and simplify care delivery.

The survey collected responses from over 100 medical and nursing leaders between February and March 2023, revealing that two-thirds of respondents did not have a process for analyzing clinical workflows. This was not unusual, as 39% of respondents expressed a neutral stance toward the quality and effectiveness of their organization’s communication processes during clinical workflows. This neutrality stems from a lack of awareness of the far-reaching consequences of traditional communication methods (phone calls, emails, EHR text messages), including staff frustration, cognitive overload from using too many systems, and delays in patient care.

“The survey findings underscore the urgent need for healthcare organizations to prioritize streamlined communication and optimized workflows,” said Will O’Connor, M.D., chief medical information officer at TigerConnect. “It is crucial for healthcare organizations to empower their caregivers with communication technology that enables the workflows they need to deliver quality care.”

Additionally, the 2023 State of Clinical Communications and Workflow survey found that “improving patient outcomes” is the top reason healthcare leaders would like to implement — or have already implemented — a system that streamlines communication and clinical workflows, followed by “improving care team communication” and “addressing staff burnout.”

The TigerConnect Clinical Collaboration Platform addresses these concerns by connecting clinicians with the data they need to expedite clinical workflows and improve patient care. The platform is secure, reliable, and interoperable – connecting to critical systems, including provider schedules, EHR platforms, nurse call systems, patient monitoring solutions, and more.

“TigerConnect is committed to transforming healthcare communication, and our expertise in clinical communication and optimizing workflows has led to improved productivity for care teams, more efficient operations, and ultimately better patient care experiences and outcomes for our customers,” continued O’Connor. “Modernizing clinical communications enables health systems to improve the cost, quality, and overall care experience they deliver.”
