In Case You Missed It: HIMSS 2018 Recap

In Case You Missed It: HIMSS 2018 Recap

We just got back from an exciting week at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Conference in Las Vegas and were proud to exhibit amongst nearly 44,000 vendors, clinicians, executives, world-class speakers, and health IT professionals. In case you couldn’t make it to the conference, here are a few of the highlights:

TigerConnect Clinical Collaboration Platform – Standard renames to TigerConnect
That’s right! We officially changed our name to TigerConnect. TigerConnect more accurately reflects the solution being provided by our company to the evolving healthcare landscape that must be always-connected, fully integrated, and outcomes-oriented. To see what else has changed, visit our website.

Meet our New CMIO
Our new Chief Medical Information Officer, William O’Connor, was quoted in a recent Becker’s Hospital Review article “Where are CIOs overinvesting their time and resources?”. See what he and 36 other healthcare industry experts at the HIMSS conference had to say about Electronic Health Records, blockchain, big data, and more.

HIMSS18 Keynote Presentation
To kick HIMSS 2018 off, opening keynote speaker Eric Schmidt (Technical Advisor and Former Executive Chairman of Alphabet Inc.) discussed what can be accomplished in healthcare through collaboration. In his presentation, “Technology for a Healthier Future: Modernization, Machine Learning, and Moonshots” Schmidt offered his perspectives on what we can do to speed up the progress and make sure technology is being put to its best use, making life better for people everywhere. For video of Schmidt’s full keynote address, visit the HIMSS website here.

This Pre-conference Poster Session from Dr. Brian G. Choi MD, MBA, FACC
In this HIMSS poster session Dr. Brian Choi, Chief Medical Information Officer at GW Medical Faculty Associates, details his experience replacing pagers with a HIPAA-compliant smartphone-based messaging system in an academic medical center.

Overall, this year’s show was a great chance to connect with our customers, industry experts, partners, and those interested in a modern clinical communication and collaboration solution while learning about all of the new healthcare technology for 2018.

Thank you to everyone that visited the TigerConnect booth. If you missed us and would like to learn more, drop us an email at That wraps up HIMSS 2018 and we’re already looking forward to exhibiting HIMSS 2019 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. See you next year!
