Call Scheduler of the Year Award Winner for 2012! – Scheduling
Congratulations to our Call Scheduler of the Year Award Winner for 2012!
Call Scheduler of the Year for 2012: Tom Anderson of St. Cloud Medical Group!
We started the Scheduler of the Year Award because we thought it would be a great way to celebrate the “hidden heroes” in our medical community who schedule the physicians’ extremely valuable on-call time. Many consider this a thankless job, but it is an essential role that impacts the daily life and happiness of the physicians and their families. In many instances, the on-call schedule drives the other scheduling for everything else in the organization!
Many of the Scheduler of the Year submissions were inspiring, referring to commitment, dedication, and service-with-a-smile under stressful circumstances. It was really difficult to choose a winner from so many creative problem-solvers!
However, there was one nomination that stood out from the others with these remarks regarding this year’s winning on-call Scheduler, Tom Anderson:
“Tom works very hard maintaining TigerConnect Physician Scheduling (formerly Call Scheduler) as well as entering all provider schedule changes into our scheduling system. Tom is approachable and works well with the providers, administration, and the nursing supervisor to be sure when schedule changes are made everyone is aware of the change.
We have some providers that choose to continue sending paper requests for the time off they need, so Tom is great at entering all of that information into TigerConnect Physician Scheduling so we have a permanent record of it. At the start of a new year, Tom helped to enter all vacation, call, and rounding for providers. This is a very tedious process as many times it involves rescheduling patients that have already been scheduled for the following year.
I do let Tom know regularly that he does a great job. I think for him to win this recognition award will let him know that he is appreciated on a whole different level. Thank you for taking the time to review the information regarding my nominee.”

Congratulations Tom! It sounds like he is well on the way to becoming a Master Scheduler if he is not one already. And thanks to all of you who took the time to nominate your schedulers.
Tom will be receiving a memorial award, a $100 Amazon.com gift certificate (or a donation to be made in his name to a local charity), and will remain the title holder for 12 months.
Tom, we hope your colleagues take great pictures and give you a write-up in your local paper too. You deserve it!
